On Wednesday, June 18 at 6:00 PM, Bright Night Gin and an amazing Tasmanian Whisky will co-host a unique tasting event in Melbourne, led by the creators themselves: Suman Dahal, co-founder of Bright Night Gin, and Damian Mackey, the acclaimed distiller behind both Bright Night and Hunter Island. This is a rare opportunity to meet the makers, learn the stories behind the spirits, and of course, enjoy some top-shelf tastings.

What to Expect

The tasting will feature three award-winning Bright Night Gins and three amazing Hunter Island Whiskies. The Gin include our much-loved Wild Tasmanian Gin, the vibrant Pink Gin, and a sneak peek at our latest limited release—the second batch of our Chardonnay Barrel Aged Gin, affectionately nicknamed The Red Goat. This gin has been aged in French oak Chardonnay barrels from Goaty Hill in the Tamar Valley, and it’s a rich, buttery, complex expression that’s already turning heads.

The tasting will also showcase three exceptional Hunter Island Whiskies, each reflecting Tasmania’s rich distilling tradition. You’ll experience their signature Pot Still Whisky, crafted with a unique blend of malted and unmalted barley plus oats for a creamy, spicy character; and the award-winning Triple Bourbon Distiller’s Cut, matured in select American oak casks for notes of vanilla, ripe pear, and baking spice; and a special preview of their forthcoming Sherry/Rum cask release. Each expression highlights Hunter Island’s dedication to innovation and quality, promising a memorable journey through the flavours of Tasmanian whisky.

This isn’t just a tasting—it’s a chance to hear directly from the people behind the spirits. Damian Mackey has been a pioneering figure in Tasmania’s distilling scene for over two decades. He brings a depth of knowledge and passion that shines through in every batch. Suman Dahal, Bright Night’s co-founder and driving force, will share the inspiration behind the brand, which is named after the Aurora Australis and crafted using the pure waters of Tasmania.
